I was moved to tears this morning with gratitude for my strong, flexible healthy body, for my home, my husband, my cat, my family and friends and for all of you – my extended community. I am so grateful for all of the blessings in my life!
I say these words of gratitude often and this morning especially because next week is my 70th birthday. Yikes! Yes, Earth Day is my birthday – April 22nd.
I am grateful to be as healthy as I am at this age, in spite of achy joints, dry skin, thinning hair on my head (I’m actually grateful for less hair on my legs!), brown spots on my face and arms and the delay in retrieving words – thank goodness it’s just a delay…
Here Is How I Stay As Healthy As I Can
I sleep at least eight hours every night – from about 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. when our beloved cat, Sophia wakes us with urgent requests for breakfast.
I take supplements daily – Melaleuca Women’s Peak Performance plus a D-Mannose supplement to prevent bladder crankiness. Recently added a Glucosamine supplement from Vasayo – I’ll keep you posted about how this is helping with inflammation.
I exercise almost every day – Moving vigorously in the water for forty-five minutes three times/week and walking most days in between for at least thirty minutes. Constantly stretching to keep from complete immobility. Ahhhh…
I avoid watching or listening to the news – I’m so sensitive that the news – mostly negative – upsets me. I read the Sunday NY Times every week – glancing at the headlines and then savoring the entertainment sections and the book review.
I Meditate, Tap, Pray & Journal – I feel very blessed and grateful that since I coach and teach from home, I am able to have a leisurely morning routine. Some of the time I wake up feeling great and some of the time I wake up achy and grumpy and it takes a while to get moving and ready to roll.
I use Young Living Essential Oils – This is completely anecdotal and it works for me. A drop of Thieves oil on the bottom of each foot before bed, a few drops of Frankincense and Manuka oil in my moisturizer, a drop of Lemon oil in my cup of herbal tea and a sniff of Peppermint oil when I am congested.
Derma-E Skin Care – I wash my face with Anti-wrinkle cleanser then apply Anti-aging regenerative serum (with drops of Frank & Manuka oil), then Anti-aging regenerative day cream in the morning and night cream at night. I find these at Pharmaca or your local pharmacy.
I read uplifting books & historical novels – I’m completely absorbed lately with Diana Gabaldon’s latest Outlander book “Tell the Bees That I Have Gone” and love all her books in this series. For inspiration I’ve just begun Lissa Rankin’s newest book “Sacred Medicine.” She is an MD who has researched complimentary medicine and all sorts of energy healing practices, including EFT.
My happy place is the ocean – For some reason I am happiest, most relaxed and joyful at the ocean. I grew up in Southern California going to Huntington Beach every chance I got, then enjoyed Bodega Bay and Pt. Reyes when we lived in the Bay area and now we love Cannon Beach and the Oregon coast as often as possible.
I hope that my sharing my self-care practices is helpful for you and I’d love to hear how you have found what works well for you.
